Which area is cheapest?

For a check-up, scale and polish and one white filling, the typical total ranges from £260 in North Tyneside to £394 in Stockton-on-Tees. For routine care the saving from travelling is usually small; it matters more for bigger treatments, so check those on the cost guides.

How these prices were compared

  • Prices are each practice's own published "from" price, collected from practice websites and last checked October 2026.
  • The three-treatment total only includes practices that publish all three prices, so every total is like-for-like.
  • "From" prices are the starting price. Bigger fillings, X-rays or longer hygiene appointments can cost more. Where a practice's price list says a check-up excludes X-rays, a hygiene visit is a set length, or a price is a limited-time offer, it is labelled next to the price.
  • Prices on a different basis, such as a fixed brace listed under clear aligners or a package for several teeth, are left out of the single-treatment table.
  • No practice pays to appear higher. Read the full method.

Is the cheapest always best?

Price is one part of the decision. Opening hours, how easy it is to get to, whether X-rays are included and how the practice handles follow-up care can matter as much.

What to compare besides price

Always confirm the price with the practice before booking. What you need, and so what you pay, is decided at your examination.
